Carcassonne: different numbers of peasants

When we ended up playing a two-player game of Carcassone (ordinary edition) it turned out that one of the players had seven peasants, while the other had eight. All peasants we're counted and given points, so it wasn't just a glitch in the graphics. The extra peasant turned up in the last quarter of the game.
